WBHS Guard Fall Announcements and Dates

Hello all! 

Welcome all the girls and guys to the start of the school year! It may be the start of school, but let’s not be fooled, we’ve been working hard for the last three weeks!

FUNDRAISING 

A few announcements to everyone regarding the Little Caesar’s Fundraising kits:

Please note, the delivery of kits has changed dates. Original pickup was August 14th. New pick up date is Thursday, August 23rd at 6:00pm. 

The kits can be out of refrigeration/freezer for no more than 4 hours after pick-up. 

GUARD APPARREL

If your child was at Thursday’s practice, I was able to hand them the money (profits) they earned that should go towards apparel purchases. Here is the link to place your order:

PRACTICES

Students must attend all practices in order to perform on Friday Nights at the football games. 

Here is a list of scheduled practices:

Monday nights from 6-9pm

*Thursdays after school from 3:30-5:30pm

Friday game nights after school until end of game

*Dates and times are subject to change*

FOOTBALL GAMES

Friday 8-24, 8-31, 9-7, 9-21, 10-5

 

 

Color Guard Camp 2018-2019 Season

Hello all! 

Color Guard Camp is this week! Monday – Friday from 10am-2pm each day. Dates from from July 23-27.

Come prepared with water bottle, tennis shoes, sunscreen, flag (one will be provided, but you are responsible for it during day), and workout bag to keep papers and other materials.

Fall Color Guard Tryouts

Fall color guard tryouts are week of April 30 – May 4 from 3:30-5:00pm. Must attend all days to be considered for Fall Color Guard unless prior arrangements are made such as (A.P. exam study). 

Meet outside of the band room and be ready to go at 3:30pm.

Here are a list of summer commitment dates if you make fall color guard:

• May 16th, Parent Informational Meeting 5-6pm
• May 20th, Lilac Parade Time: TBA
• July 4th, Parade Time: TBA
• July 23rd-27th, Guard Camp 10am-2pm 
• July 30th-Aug 3rd, Band Camp 12-8pm
• Intermittent practices twice a week once school starts
• Friday Night Football games (August-October)

Brook Olympic Practice Week

We are practicing on Tuesday, March 6th from 3:30-5:30pm outside of the band room.

As well as Wednesday, March 7th from 3:30-5:30pm.

We have a tentative practice (may or may not need it) set for Thursday, March 8th from 3:30-5:30pm.

If you plan to perform at Brook Olympic you MUST be at all practices this week.

Practice This Week

Hi everyone,

Mandatory practice for Brook Olympic performance (March 9th) on Thursday and Friday of this week. February 22 and 23 we will have practice in the Aux Gym from 6-9pm.

Announcement 1/25/18

Hello Families,

We would like to keep you informed about current Winter Guard club state of affairs.

We will not be competing this weekend (1/28/18). Because of the small nature of our team, we do not meet requirements to compete in any of the competitions, or the finals. However, we will still be working toward a performance at the Brook Olympics assembly on March 9.

There will be an altered practice schedule distributed by next week on our website. We do plan to have girls meet and practice with us two weeks before Brook Olympics, on March 9th so they can do a routine for the student body. This will be the weeks of: Feb 19-23 and Feb 26- Mar 2.

In hopes for a solid fall color guard, and therefore hopefully a solid 2018-2019 Winter Guard, both coaches will be actively recruiting with the intention of growing our numbers next season. 

We will be making phone calls tomorrow (Friday) to each of our families to notify you of the schedule altering and answer any questions you may have.

Week of 1/22

ALL practices are cancelled for this week (1/22 and 1/24). In addition, we will NOT be competing this weekend (1/28). Information on future practices will be shared by the end of this week.

Competition on 3/25 and Finals

Hello,

Just wanted to take a second to clear some things up.

Due to extenuating circumstances, we no longer qualify to compete in the competition on March 25th. We will not have the required 5 members for competition. Unfortunately, it is too late to change our registration for another date.

Per the rules and guidelines for MWCGC, we need to compete in 4 regular season competitions in order to qualify for participation in finals. Because we are not able to compete on March 25, we will only have competed in 3 regular season competitions. This makes us ineligible to compete in finals on April 7th.

We will compete in our other competitions as scheduled. The calendar reflects these changes.
